Four years ago I proposed that Israel should always celebrate Yom Ha-atzma'ut on Thursdays. Well, it turns out that the government is proposing just that!
But if they're going to tamper with the date then I could make the argument that they should move it either to after Lag B'Omer or out of Sefirah altogether to avoid the problems with music and parties during that time of year. Why one and not the other?
